zuchinni-plantOur Organic Vegetable Garden

2009 was our first year as backyard gardeners and we did it all without any pesticides or poisons of any kind.

I will admit that I didn’t expect our garden to turn out as productive as it did. As a kid growing up I remember Dad hitting the garden with every chemical known to man.

Maybe that’s why I started having migraines at age 8. They never stopped until we learned about washing the produce we get from the grocery store.

My wife, Jenny and I started with a 16×4 foot garden that is producing far more than we thought it would.

Next year we are increasing our backyard garden to 24×12, maybe even bigger. But you don’t need a huge garden to produce a lot of produce.

The plan is to also do some preserving for the winter as well. This year I think only the tomatoes are going to be more than we can handle so we will either give away a ton of tomatoes or we will try canning.
